Los Angeles, USA: Part Two

Use lethal force at will.

While Lambert is still talking, look through the window in the door ahead and you'll see a terrorist guard walking to your right. As soon as the level has loaded, bust through the door and knock the terrorist out with your elbow. You should be able to do it in complete darkness, without alerting either of the civilians that are sitting in the terminal. Hide the body and pick up the data stick on the guard that has the key pad code you'll soon need. Shoot the terrorist dead with your pistol--it's more silent than the rifle--and approach the closest civilian from behind. Before you reach him, the civilian will automatically stand up and move to the other side of the walkway. Leave him be, as he now has his back to the area where you want to walk.

Stay on the left side of the room and silently creep behind the two civilians. When you reach the end of the hall a real airport employee will show up. Lure him into the shadows behind the wall by letting him see you (since it's so dark he'll inspect what he sees instead of immediately sounding the alarm) and knock him unconscious. Then, use the new key pad code (5325) to open the door at the far end of the hall.

At the very end of the hall just ahead is a mounted camera that's unfortunately indestructable. Shoot out the lights that line the hall, and use your camera jammer to get by the camera. You can then shoot out the final light in the hall and leave the camera completely blind. Here you'll hit the first Checkpoint.

Checkpoint

Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow

After hitting the checkpoint, immediately run into the next room and you'll meet up with a terrorist in a dark corner. Quickly knock him out, and then make sure that the civilian sitting at his desk doesn't reach one of the two alarms on the far sides of the room. Knock out the civilian, and then take a moment to kill the terrorist after hiding both bodies.

There are two exits to the room with the terrorist and the customer service guy you just knocked out. Take the left exit and you'll reach a balcony with a long walkway to your right. Take the walkway slowly, and as you near the end two civilians will come out and stand facing off the balcony. Make sure they don't see you, and once they're positioned where they're staring off the balcony, sneak up behind them. Use your elbow to knock out the man on the right, and the man on the left will run down the walkway. Chase him down and when he tries to open the door on the far end of the hall you'll have a chance to knock him out. Hide both bodies and listen to your commands.

You'll now need to go down the escalators where you can get a vantage point to spot Soth and his men. Be careful, though, because above the door at the base of the escalators is a camera. Use the camera jammer to get underneath it. Once you're under it, you can let go of the camera jammer and let the darkness hide you. From the bottom of the escalators, equip your thermal goggles and binoculars and look through the thin metal sheeting in the center of the huge hall, below you. Almost directly beneath Sam you'll see three orange figures. Zoom in on them and you'll get a radio message from Lambert, identifying Soth. The three will walk off, and that's your cue to leave. Go through the doorway just beneath the camera to enter an elevator lobby with two cameras in it. Use the camera jammer to get by them (or just shoot out the lights in the room) and call one of the elevators up. Get inside, and use the lift to hit the next Checkpoint.

Checkpoint

After hitting the checkpoint the elevator stops. Shoot out the ceiling panels and jump up to climb out of the car. Climb the front-right cable up to the next cable car on your right. Climb on top of the new car and you'll find a place where you can drop onto on the front, where you'll find some ammo and a sticky camera. As you pick up the items you'll hear the conversation of Soth on the phone. The large room ahead is littered with catwalks, and if you look above Sam you can see Soth and his men. On the catwalks below are three or four civilian workers.

There are two ways you can go about taking out Soth and his two henchmen: the easy way, and the even easier way. If you want, you can try and be methodical, taking out the lights below with your pistol and knocking out the workers below. But since you don't have to worry about alarms at all in this room, you can go straight for Soth's throat and kill the three of them. Only problem then is that once Soth is aware of you, a time of one minute will start counting down. You'll need to kill Soth and his two men, and then climb the catwalk ladders to reach the platform where Soth is and touch the smallpox container he has.

Drop down onto the catwalk and move to silently to the right. You should reach an area where you can get a clear head shot on all three of your enemies above you (equip your thermal goggles if you're having trouble finding them). Quickly snipe them all, starting from the left-most guy and moving to the right. Once they're all dead you should have between 45-30 seconds of time left on the clock, which is plenty to reach the smallpox container. Run down the center catwalk platform (moving away from the area where you dropped down) and take a left before you reach the end of the walkway. Keep moving to the left and then take another left once you reach the corner. Climb the ladder to your right to reach another catwalk with yet another ladder. Climb that ladder, and move along the wall to drop onto the catwalk below you. From there, simply run to the far end of the catwalk (again, away from the area where you dropped into the room) and touch the smallpox container to end the game. Boo yah.

[WARNING: 15/07/2018] The newest version of DgVoodoo2 may not be compatible with the widescreen fix for Splinter Cell 1 (and possibly Pandora Tomorrow). To fix, follow the instructions below as normal, but then download DgVoodoo2 v2.55.1 (older version, scroll down on the site to see it) and go into the 'MS' folder in the zip you downloaded. Move the 'D3D8.dll' file into the 'system' folder of the game's installation. Ignore the updater telling you there's a new version of DgVoodoo2 until the fix is resolved. I have opened an issue here if you would like to track when it's okay to let it update itself again:https://github.com/ThirteenAG/WidescreenFixesPack/issues/479

Saw a lot of posts asking these types of questions so hope to help out. This will also fix the game minimizing automatically with the widescreen fix!

This works for Splinter Cell and Pandora Tomorrow, the latter of which isn't available to buy digitally. Obviously I can't tell you where to 'obtain' SC:PT, that part you can figure out, but I can list some instructions for getting it working properly on PC. Also, the retail version of Pandora Tomorrow uses SecuROM DRM measures. SecuROM is notorious for not working at all on Windows 10, so I feel it's justified to find a cracked .exe file just to get it up and running.

Make sure your game is patched to the latest verion. Patches can be found on the PCGamingWiki article for each game.

  • First, install the game as normal. Right click on the desktop shortcut (or find the game .exe where you installed it) and tick 'run as administrator', then click OK. The widescreen fix may not update properly otherwise. Quicksaves may also break if you don't do this on Windows 10.

  • Second, download the fix for your game out of the choices on this page, extract to the game directory. Merge folders with the same name and replace all files or it won't work (e.g. extract the 'system' folder from the widescreen fix to the same 'system' folder in the game directory). The fix might want to update after running the game for the first time, so just let it do it's thing: http://thirteenag.github.io/wfp#splintercell

  • Optionally, download the hi-res textures from the PS3 HD remake version of the game and extract them to the 'textures' folder in your game directory. Click HERE for Splinter Cell, and HERE for Pandora Tomorrow.

NOTE: I only had to do these next two because my system barred the widescreen fix from installing the lighting fix (dgVoodoo2). Normally this is handled by the fix, but some admin/anti-virus systems can block it like mine did. Only attempt these if the widescreen fix didn't do it for you (you'll know if the game's lighting looks off, a great way to tell is if objects around the environment cast shadows.

  • Third, download dgVoodoo2 from here. This can trigger anti-virus - explanation at the bottom of the post: http://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/dgVoodoo2.html

  • Finally look into (or extract) the .zip of dgVoodoo2 and go into the 'MS' folder, then extract D3D8.dll to the 'system' folder of the game.

Pandora

DONE! Though keep in mind that your antivirus may delete the D3D8.dll file without telling you (like mine did) as it thinks it's a virus. This is due to it using .dll files to emulate older game functions (essentially how it can render the lighting properly in the first two Splinter Cells). To circumvent this you'll need to add an exception to your anti-virus.

A lot of antivirus software hates dgVoodoo2 but I've had it for years without problem and it's been used widespread to play older games as they were intended, which you can see for yourself just by searching around and seeing it discussed on many game preservation forums. Though it's completely up to you if you trust me on that.

Oh, and make sure not to check 'Disable Fullscreen Optimisations' in the Windows compatibility tab. I got in the habit of doing this as it speeds up a lot of games, but for some reason doing it here causes the widescreen fix to mess up. Most of you don't need to worry about this, but any PC gamers such as myself who got into this habit will find this information useful.

Finally: although this guide is for SC1 and PT, Chaos Theory also has it's own widescreen fix available here. You don't need this for modern systems as the game runs fine as is, but it's very useful as otherwise the game will seem too zoomed in. Just thought I'd mention as most videos of the PC version on YouTube have the stretched HUD and zoomed-in camera so I'm not sure if it's common knowledge.
