Sachin Khedekar is an Indian actor and director from Maharashtra, best known for his roles in the film Aap Kaa Surroor, Astitva, TV series Imtihaan,[1] and as Subhas Chandra Bose in Shyam Benegal's Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero.[2]

Biography

Khedekar was born and brought up in Vile Parle, Mumbai, in a Marathi middle class family.[3] He lost his father at the age of 5.[4] He studied at Thadomal Shahani Engineering College.

Career

Khedekar started as a theatre artist before moving to acting in movies.[5] He started acting in plays in 1985.[3] His first play was Vidhilikhit. He has also been in a play titled Shyam Rang in 2000. He got into Hindi television through the show Imtihaan in 1995.[6][7][8]

Kaksparsh

Kaksparsh is a 2012 Indian Marathi period drama film directed by Mahesh Manjrekar and produced by Aniruddha Deshpande and Medha Manjrekar. The film stars Sachin Khedekar, Priya Bapat, Medha Manjrekar, Savita Malpekar and Ketaki Mategaonkar. Based on a short story by Usha Datar by the same name, the film depicts the tumultuous events in a Chitpavan Brahmin family, set around 1930–1950 in Konkan. The film was a commercial success and got critical acclaim for its direction, screenplay by Girish Joshi and also for the performances by its actors, especially Khedekar for his portrayal of Hari Damle as a head of the family.

In 1989, the short story was adapted into a Marathi play Janmagaath with actor-director Vinay Apte playing the lead. Apte had desires to make a film based on it. However, his attempts were not successful. Sachin Khedekar, who went to play the lead in the cinematic adaptation of the story, had seen the play and came across the story again in 2007. Khedekar requested Girish Joshi to complete the adapted screenplay and together approached Manjrekar in 2009 to make a film on the story. Kaksparsh's shooting was completed in 26 days – from 5 to 30 December 2011 and was released on 4 May 2012, on the occasion of centenary of Indian Cinema.

The film won several awards on release including Best Film award at Maharashtra State Film Awards, MICTA, and 11th Pune International Film Festival. It is also the first Marathi film to have a home media release in Blu-ray. With the success of Kaksparsh, a Hindi and Tamil remake of Kaksparsh is also being directed by Mahesh Manjrekar with Arvind Swamy and Tisca Chopra as the leads.

Kon Hoeel Marathi Crorepati

Kon Hoeel Marathi Crorepati is an Indian game show presented in Marathi on E-TV Marathi. It is the official Indian Marathi adaptation of the internationally renowned Sony Pictures, television-owned game show Who Wants to be a Millionaire? and its successful Hindi adaptation Kaun Banega Crorepati hosted by Amitabh Bachchan.

As opposed to its Hindi counterpart, the Marathi version of this reality show will be featuring the famous Marathi actor Sachin Khedekar as the anchor.

Shutter is a 2014 Marathi language thriller film that was directed by V. K. Prakash and is a re-make of the Malayalam 2012 film of the same name. The film had its world premiere on 17 September 2014 and will have a theatrical release on 3 July 2015. It stars Sachin Khedekar as a man that has recently returned from overseas, only to go through a series of unexpected situations.Filming for Shutter was completed in March 2014. Ziddi (English: Stubborn) is a 1997 Indian action film directed by Guddu Dhanoa and produced by N. R. Pachisia. The movie has Sunny Deol and Raveena Tandon in lead roles with Anupam Kher, Sachin Khedekar and Ashish Vidyarthi in other important roles. It is the story of a hot-tempered and stubborn man Deva, who is feared because of his ruthless ways and severe punishment to the local hoodlums. Later, Deva avenges the death of his brother and sister.

It went on to become one of the biggest Bollywood hits of 1997, grossing Rs 302.5 million (US$5.4 million) at the box office. The film was remade in Tamil as Dharma, starring Vijayakanth. This film also was remade in Bangladesh as Shanto Keno Mastan (1998 film), starring Manna (actor), Shahnaj and Humayun Faridi, directed by Montajur Rahman Akbar.
